A former magazine editor in marketing, book production, and broadcasting, I have also written (freelanced) several hundred articles and columns, as well as many TV and radio commercials and PSAs. I’ve been an accredited member of the Periodical Press Galleries of the U.S. Congress and of the Society of Professional Journalists for many years in Washington.
I’ve written the “Washington Focus” column for several newsletters, magazines, and newspapers, including the Advertising-PR-Marketing column for the Gazette Newspapers.
I was elected president of the Public Relations Society of America's National Capital Chapter, the nation's largest, in 1981. Under my leadership, NCC won its first PRSA Banner Award for superior programs and management.
At George Washington University I created and, from 1984 to 1989, taught its graduate-level course in public and media relations for its Center for Career Education's Certificate Program for Public Relations Professionals. I’ve studied and have a very good working knowledge of French, Spanish and Italian. |

Washington Independent Writers awarded me the Phillip M. Stern Award "For Outstanding Service to Writers and the Writing Profession" in 1997, during which I established and conducted the monthly Insiders Luncheon Program featuring major speakers from the media, including Sam Donaldson, Cokey Roberts, Norm Ornstein, Jim Lehrer, and James Carville.
I’m a frequent speaker on public Relations and the media and have conducted many seminars for business writers and editors for PRSA and the International Association of Business Communicators. |
